How to use: sunscreen, self-tanner and tanning bed cream
If you regularly expose your skin to the sun or tanning bed and therefore UV radiation, it is essential to protect your skin properly. You can use three different products for this: sunscreen, self-tanner or sunscreen. But when and how can you best use these products?
Sunburn
If there is one thing that should not be missing in your bag on a sunny day, it is sunscreen. Even though most people know that you should actually use sunscreen every day and reapply it every two hours, there is still some confusion about how exactly to apply sunscreen. If you do not apply sunscreen correctly, it will not provide the protection you expect. Always apply sunscreen after your serum or day cream and give sunscreen time to absorb. For example, don't go straight into the sea and wait a while before putting on clothes. Many people also forget certain spots while applying the cream. Consider, for example, the top of your ears, your scalp (even if you have a lot or long hair) and feet.
Sunbed cream
If you visit the tanning bed regularly or once in a while, it is very important to purchase a good sun product for this too. A tanning cream not only ensures a better tanning result, but it also contains ingredients that prevent skin aging, moisture loss and burning. Under the sunbed, the skin dries out and is therefore much more vulnerable, so you always need a sunbed cream. Cover yourself completely with a sunbed cream of your choice - for example with or without bronzer - and let it absorb for a few minutes. Apply the cream with bronzer in a rotating motion so that you do not miss any spots. In addition, don't forget to use an after-sun or moisturizer after sunbathing so that you can hydrate and care for your skin extra.
Self-tanner
Do you want to keep that summer tan a little longer, without having to use a sunbed? Then a self-tanning spray, cream or mousse is a good alternative. A self-tanning product such as a spray or cream colors the upper layer of the skin with dihydroxyacetone (DHA), allowing you to enjoy tanned skin for a number of days without having to expose your skin to UV radiation. Always avoid your hairline and eyebrows, because they can be discolored by the self-tanner. Something you want to avoid, of course! Before applying a self-tanner, it is advisable to first apply a nourishing cream to dry areas. In addition, always wash your hands immediately after applying self-tanner or use a glove.
